Rotherham Family History Society

Rotherham Family History Society was founded in 1981 as there was a potential family history interest in the area of the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham and is well established with a membership of 400.

The Society currently runs several projects transcribing local records. Meetings are monthly and consist of members’ workshops, speakers and activities with occasionally arranged outings. Both members and non-members are always welcome at meetings which are held at Eastwood Methodist Church Hall, Rotherham. Further assistance with research may be obtained from their message board and a good stock of local publications in booklets or on CDs, details of which can be obtained through the quarterly journal ‘ A Bridge In Time’ and from the society website where a listing of members’ own family history interests can also be found, a photo archive, and details of how to join this friendly society.

Rotherham FHS is a registered charity (no 1113670), is a member of the Yorkshire Regional Family History Group, and a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.

Rotherham Family History Society contributed to the following record sets:

  • National burial index for England & Wales.
  • Yorkshire baptisms
  • Yorkshire monumental inscriptions

  • These records are available as part of a Findmypast Plus and Pro subscription.
