Huddersfield & District
Family History Society

Huddersfield and District Family History Society was formed in 1987 to cover family history interests in the Metropolitan district of Kirklees which comprises the 11 ancient parishes of Almondbury, Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Emley, Hartshead, Kirkburton, Kirkheaton, Mirfield and Thornhill, and has now grown to a membership of over 1,200.

The Society holds regular monthly meetings at Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley and Checkheaton, where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet likeminded people. The quarterly journal The H & D FHS Journal provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the Society, and an opportunity for members to publish their personal family history interests. The Research Centre is located in Holmfirth and offers access to many data CDs and subscriptions to some of the well-known subscription websites.

More information can be found on the website at www.hdfhs.org.uk including details of local publication of parish records, projects, research services, and how to join the society.

Huddersfield & D FHS is a registered charity (no 702199), and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
