6. Parish records
Our Parish Records Collection allows you to search millions of baptism, marriage and burial records, dating from 1538 onwards. Use the tab at the top to choose whether to search for a baptism, marriage, or burial. As with most other searches, we suggest you enter a small amount of information to begin with, and only add more detail if you need to refine the results.
The results screen should provide sufficient information for you to choose the right record:
The level of detail within a record depends largely on what was recorded on the original. Most parish records do not include accompanying images – you will see a transcript that resembles the one below:
