Learn about Passenger Lists from our Expert - lecture at Society of Genealogists.
Stephen Rigden, Head of Research at findmypast.co.uk, will be sharing his expertise in a lecture on the BT27 UK Outbound Passenger Lists at The Society of Genealogists in London this weekend. The records, which will soon be available exclusively on findmypast.co.uk in association with The National Archives, cover long-distance voyages made from all British ports between 1890 and 1960, and include journeys such as that of the ill-fated Titanic, which sank in 1912.
The passengers were travelling for many different reasons: some starting new lives in the Americas, Australia and New Zealand, colonial service families travelling to Asia and Africa, business, politicians and European transmigrants travelling via ports in England, Scotland and Ireland. Among the 30 million records you may well find the clue to your ancestral brick walls!
