The records included in this collection span the years from 1804 to 1900. The transcripts were made from the original Christ Church Registers that are held at the University of Newcastle, Cultural Collections. Christ Church was originally built in 1817. It was knocked down in 1884 to allow for the building of the current cathedral.
Currently, in this collection of parish registers, we have just over 5,000 baptisms, around 2,200 marriages records, and just over 3,300 burials. Some burials have also been transcribed from newspapers and other sources.
