Waterford is a city in County Waterford. The city is the oldest in the Republic of Ireland and is the fifth populous. The city is located at the head of Waterford Harbour. Its motto, Waterford remains the untaken city, was designated by King Henry VII in 1497. The motto refers to Waterford’s refusal to accept Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck’s claims to the English throne.
