A notable individual Included within these records is John Knox, Major of the 36th Regiment of Foot.

In 1799, John Knox took part in the Duke of York's expedition to the Netherlands where he served as commander of the Advance Guard, an elite brigade composed of grenadiers and light infantry. As the British representative, he negotiated and signed the Convention of Alkmaar that ended that campaign.

John Knox was then appointed Governor of Jamaica but drowned while traveling to the island in 1800.
