East Surrey Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the East Surrey Family History Society.

The East Surrey Family History Society was founded in 1977 and it covers the area in the eastern part of the ancient county of Surrey, which includes those London Boroughs south of the Thames that are now in Greater London Boroughs - Croydon, Kingston, Lambeth, Merton, Richmond, Southwark, Sutton and Wandsworth.

The society welcomes as members not only those living in the area who wish to belong to a local society (regardless of whether or not they have Surrey ancestry) but anyone with a research interest in this part of the county, irrespective of their address, be it in the UK or overseas. The society has members throughout the UK and in many other countries; it has its own representatives in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA.

Regular meetings are held at venues in Croydon, Lingfield, Richmond, Southwark and Sutton. Most meetings take the form of a talk followed by a question and answer session, but at all the venues there are opportunities to obtain advice and meet others with similar interests.

St Mary, Lambeth Burials, 1777-1838

Delve into this collection of burial records that are brought to you in partnership with the East Surrey Family History Society to discover records that span over decades and includes the lives of more than 50,000 individuals. This includes in excess of 6,000 people who died in the Lambeth workhouse.

These records can help you uncover your ancestor's burial place, residence and age at their time of death.

Wrightington First Communicants, 1851-1889

Thanks to our partnership with the East Surrey Family History Society, you can also now delve into over 500 records of Roman Catholic first communicants for Wrightington Hall in Lancashire. These records can reveal a birth year and give more details about when and where the individual's first communion took place.
