Herefordshire Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Herefordshire Family History Society which aims to cover family history interests in the county of Herefordshire.

Herefordshire Family History Society was formed in 1980 to cover family history interests in the county of Herefordshire, and has a membership to date of 900.

The society holds monthly meetings in Hereford where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, especially at the research evenings run three times a year, and enjoy meeting likeminded people. There is a bi-annual fair in Hereford, and society volunteers also attend surrounding counties’ fairs.

The Herefordshire Family History Society have contributed to our vast collection of marriage records for Herefordshire. If you have family roots in Herefordshire, then this is the perfect place to begin your research, with more than 270,000 records to explore spanning between 1538-1936.

The society have also contributed to the National Burial Index which you can explore here.

The quarterly journal ‘Herefordiensis’ provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the society, and an opportunity to publish personal family history interests. These will also be found on the website with details of local publications available for purchase online or by post, projects, research services, and how to join the society.

Herefordshire FHS is a registered charity (no 517785), is a member of West Midlands Area Group, and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
