Huddersfield & District Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Huddersfield & District Family History Society.

Huddersfield and District Family History Society was formed in 1987 to cover family history interests in the Metropolitan district of Kirklees which comprises the 11 ancient parishes of Almondbury, Batley, Birstall, Dewsbury, Huddersfield, Emley, Hartshead, Kirkburton, Kirkheaton, Mirfield and Thornhill, and has now grown to a membership of over 1,200.

The Society holds regular monthly meetings at Huddersfield, Dewsbury, Batley and Checkheaton, where members can hear a variety of speakers, seek advice, and meet likeminded people. The quarterly journal The H & D FHS Journal provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the Society, and an opportunity for members to publish their personal family history interests.

Vital records

The Huddersfield & District Family History Society have contributed to our collection of vital records for the wider area of Yorkshire, including baptism and marriage records. To search for ancestors who you know lived in Huddersfield, you can filter the results to show baptism and marriage records for 'Huddersfield' in the place field.

The society has also contributed to the National Burial Index which you can explore here.
