Felixstowe Family History Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with Felixstowe Family History Society, which was formed in 1986 to cover family history interests in the parishes surrounding Felixstowe in the Colneis peninsula in south-east Suffolk.

Felixtowe Family History Society was formed in 1986 to cover family history interests in the parishes surrounding Felixstowe in the Colneis peninsula in south-east Suffolk between the Rivers Orwell and Deben, and has now grown to a membership of some 250.

The Society holds regular meetings in Felixstowe where members and non-members are welcome to hear a variety of speakers and seek advice. There is also a library research room open three days a week with books, maps and other documents, with a large collection of microfiche and data on computer media, eight microfiche readers and five networked computers all with broadband access to the Internet.

Available records

Felixstowe Family History Society have contributed to the National Burial Index, which allows you to explore more than 12 million burial records from across England and Wales. The majority of the records cover the period from 1813 - 1850 but the index does extend significantly in both directions from these dates.

Additional information from the society

The journal Roots and Branches is distributed four times a year and provides items of local interest, general genealogical information, events and activities of the Society, and an opportunity to have your personal family history interests published. Similar information is also found on the website, including details of local publications and facilities to join this small but friendly society.

Felixstowe FHS is a registered charity (no 296115), and is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies.
