What does the name Reynolds mean?

Reynolds is a name that comes from England. It is believed to have Anglo-Norman origins. It is a patronymic surname, given to those who are the son or descendant of somebody called 'Reynold', 'Reginald' or 'Reynaud' and similar names. The first holders of this name are thought to have arrived at the Norman conquest in 1066. A 'Willemus filius Raunaldi' can be found living in Somerset in the 1086 Domesday Book, giving credibility to this assertion.
