The records are images of publications about Scottish parishes or families. What you will find in each work will vary depending on its subject. For example, *Memorial Inscriptions of Rattray Churchyard* recorded death dates and places from monumental inscriptions, whereas *Scotland, Historic Families Of Fife, Births, Marriages and Deaths 1100-2014* chronicles the genealogical history of Scottish families of Fife such as Barclay, Hay, Leslie, Preston, Wemyss and more.

• Annals of the Parish Of Dalmailing -- A successful novel by John Galt (1779-1839) published in 1821. The story is told through the first-person narrative of Reverend Micah Balwhidder, a newly appointed minister in Dalmailing. Rev Balwhidder observes and records in his diary the daily lives of this rural Scottish community from 1760 to 1810.
• Banffshire: The People and the Lands -- Discover details of your ancestors who lived, married, and died in Banffshire, Scotland.
• * *The Book of the Duffs -- Compiled by Alistair and Henrietta Tayler in 1914 in an attempt to record all Scotsmen who have held the name Duff. It traces the descendants of the name and includes history and folklore.
• The Borderlands of Glasgow - Official Tramway Guide -- This guide to walks and rambles through the borderlands of Glasgow was written by Theodore Charles Ferdinand Brotchie and published in 1925. It includes many sketches and watercolours of the Glasgow countryside.
• Edinburgh -- This is a historical and topographical account of Scotland’s capital city published in 1906 by M G Williamson, MA, and illustrated by Herbert Railton. Williamson recorded the early history of Edinburgh as well as the history of the castle, university, grassmarket and literary tradition of the city.
• Extracts from the Records of the Burgh of Glasgow -- Published in 1908, this work covers the years 1691 to 1717. The extracts relate to the administration of the town. Your ancestors may appear in the publication if they were members of the town council, local landlords, magistrates, merchants or ministers.
• Graham's Social Life of Scotland in the Eighteenth Century -- This publication, written by Henry Grey Graham and published in 1901, delves into the social conditions of the people of Scotland, particularly in the Lowlands, during the eventful period of the eighteenth century. It looks at the lives of the peasantry and farmers and explores their customs, beliefs, and opinions. This is a fascinating resource for anyone with Scottish heritage.
• Historical Records of the Family of Leslie -- In 1869, Colonel Leslie, K H, printed this history of the Leslie family using resources from public records and private collections. The family name is traced from 1067 to 1869.
• A History of the Scottish Highlands: Highland Clans & Highland Regiments -- The publication opens with a portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. It was produced in 1875 and edited by John S Keltie. It also includes an account of the Gaelic language, literature and music by Reverend Thomas MacLauchlan and an essay on highland scenery by John Wilson. The main text traces the history of the highlands from early inhabitants through to Robert Bruce, Charles I, and the Battle of Culloden. The book also recorded the history of nine highland regiments.
• Index to Particular Register of Sasines for Shire of Berwick and Bailiary of Lauderdale, Vol I, A-H -- Sasines refers to the transfer of ownership or the deed of a property and all that goes with the property such as buildings, tress, land, etc. A register of sasines began in 1617 by order of the Registration Act of 1617 and has continued since. Today it is known as the General Register of Sasines. This index was published in 1928 and covers the years 1617 to 1780 for the historic Scottish county of Berwickshire and the district of Lauderdale. You will find the individual’s name, parents’ names, date of record and location.
• Memorial Inscriptions of Rattray Churchyard -- The inscriptions were compiled by the Minister of Rattray, John Hunter, BD, and published in Dundee in 1913. The parish of Rattray is located in Aberdeenshire. Each inscription often includes a number of individuals’ names listed on the same monument. The monuments recorded their names, death dates and age at death. Some go further to include death place, occupation, names of relations and who erected the monument.
• Memorials of the Parish of Alloa -- This was written by John Crawford and published in 1874. It includes a memoir of the author by Rev Charles Rogers. Crawford wrote about the local history of the parish of Alloa including chapters about the Alloa tower (a main attraction in the town), the brewers of the olden time, and David Allan, the historical painter. Alloa is a town in Clackmannanshire.
• Morayshire: Its People and Its Lands -- Learn details about your ancestor's life, marriage, and death in Morayshire, Scotland, by exploring this publication.
• Parish Registers of Durness -- Durness is a civil parish in the Highlands of Scotland, located on the north coast. The register was published in 1911 but covers the years from 1764 to 1814. It recorded baptisms and marriages at a time when these records were rarely kept. The index lists everyone found in the register and in some cases their occupation and residence.
• Register of the Collegiate Church of Crail -- The register was published in 1877 with introductory remarks by Rev Charles Rogers. The register is a record of the church’s constitution as well as charters and inventories. Crail is a burgh in Fifeshire on the eastern coast.
• Reminiscences of Dollar Etc -- The Scottish village of Dollar is in Clackmannanshire. The full title of this publication is *Reminiscences of Dollar, Tillicoultry, and Other Districts Adjoining the Ochils, with Notes of Progress, Scientific Discovery and Invention of New Spinning Machinery, During the Last Hundred Years*. This local history book was published in 1883 and written by William Gibson.
• Rental Book of the Diocese of Glasgow, Vol I -- This was published in 1875 and records rentals from Glasgow, Carstairs, Stobo and Eddilstoun between 1509 and 1570. Early entries are in Latin. The preface gives a history of rentals in Glasgow and how they were paid.
• Rules, Office-Bearers & Members of The Weavers Society of Anderston -- This edition of *Rules and Regulations and List of Office Bearers and Members of the Weavers’ Society of Anderston* was published in 1901 but covers the years 1738 to 1900. Anderston is a district in Glasgow. Along with the rules of the Weavers’ Society, you will find lists of office bearers including their names and date of appointment. The members list includes the member’s name, residence, occupation and year of entry.
• Scotland, Historic Families of Fife, Births, Marriages and Deaths 1100-2014 -- Published as *The Red Book of Fife* by Gordon MacGregor, the book records the history and genealogy of historic Fife families across nine centuries including Balfour, Bruce, Leslie and Ramsay, to name a few.
• Short History of the Black Watch or Royal Highlanders -- This book recorded the history of the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders) from 1725 until 1907. It also includes an account of the 2nd Battalion in the South African War (1899-1902). It was published in 1908. The names of officers of separate battalions are included along with details of their service with the Black Watch.
• Statistical Account of the Parish and Town of Dundee 1792 -- This analytical approach to the history of Dundee was written by Robert Small. It explores the early settlement of Dundee, its administrative operations, and the town’s geography.
• Wilson's Tales of the Borders, Volume I -- John Mackay Wilson’s publishing sensation was first printed as weekly instalments in 1834. *Wilson’s Tales of the Borders*contains historical, traditional, and fictional tales from Scotland’s borderlands, particularly the border of Scotland and north Northumberland. In the book, you will find over 70 stories including ‘The Vacant Chair’, ‘the Poacher’s Progress’, and ‘Death of the Chevalier de al Beaute’.
